The audience: make them care

We all have ideas and we all have great story to tell whether it's to sell something or purely for pleasure. But like any good storytelling, you need an audience. And and as a storyteller, you'd want people to remember your stories. But what makes a story stick or memorable?

There are many factors that audience are hooked to a story. Sometimes the story told are so bizarre that it's shock factor is so powerful that it sticks with you. But most of the time, audience get hooked to a story because it sometimes resonates with them. They feel connected to certain story because they have been in that situation before. They sympathise with the character or situation and in effect, are engage with the story. So one the thing you'd want to remember when coming up with idea for a story is to remember the audience. A good storyteller understands his or her audiences. Find a subject matter they can relate to in order to get them hooked. Once they buy into the idea or concept, then they will follow wherever the storyteller will take them.
